SWITCHING LANES WITH WAYNE

A Proven Workforce Development Partner

Our Founder's Journey

From Personal Transformation to Community Impact

My name is Wayne Lane, and I am a fully accredited CDL Instructor listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry at CMSC Parker Professional Driving School. I am also the founder of Switching Lanes with Wayne LLC. I specialize in pre-CDL preparation and in-class theory instruction, helping individuals build a strong foundation for successful careers in professional driving. In addition, I have experience teaching ESL students and supporting them in obtaining their CDL. My personal life experience has uniquely positioned me to support individuals who may feel discouraged or uncertain about their future. After serving 18 years at Angola State Prison, one of the most challenging correctional facilities in the United States, I returned home with serious concerns about rebuilding my life and supporting myself. Within one year of my release, I earned my CDL, a decision that profoundly changed the direction of my life. Today, I am a homeowner and a small business owner. Because of this journey, I am deeply committed to returning to correctional facilities and partnering with organizations throughout Massachusetts to support incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals, as well as anyone in our communities who is committed to pursuing a career in trucking. A career in commercial driving can be truly life-changing, offering job stability, economic mobility, and long-term opportunity. The trucking industry continues to provide meaningful employment options, and many companies are willing to hire qualified individuals with prior convictions, making it a viable and empowering career pathway for those seeking a fresh start. Throughout my career, I have been employed by Olympia Moving and Storage, Waste Management, Capital Waste Services, Republic Services, Stop & Shop, and currently CMSC Parker Professional Driving School. I am eager to collaborate with organizations that share a commitment to workforce development, reentry support, and community impact, and I welcome opportunities to work together to make a meaningful difference. In collaboration with the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, Families for Justice As Healing, Justice 4 Housing, and The Louis Brown Peace Institute, I have supported many individuals in obtaining their CDL license. For the past 2 years I have been doing some teaching at Suffolk County House of Corrections, Plymouth HOC, Dedham HOC and DYS. My mission is to create pathways for personal and professional success, regardless of one’s circumstances.

About Switching Lanes with Wayne

Switching Lanes with Wayne is a mission-driven CDL training and career readiness initiative dedicated to changing lives through trucking education, economic mobility, and second-chance opportunities. Founded by Wayne Lane, a fully accredited FMCSA CDL instructor, the program operates through strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations, correctional institutions, and workforce development agencies to reach individuals who face systemic barriers to employment. Drawing from Wayne’s own journey from incarceration to professional success, Switching Lanes with Wayne delivers accessible pre-CDL and CDL preparation, hands-on classroom and field training for Class A and B licenses, and wraparound career guidance. By working collaboratively with community-based partners, reentry programs, and workforce systems, the initiative equips participants with in-demand skills while helping organizations create clear pathways to stable employment, long-term economic security, and generational impact.
